About Us

Our History

In 1995 a Methodist Minister came to the Basingstoke Circuit of Churches. He was already involved with Fundatia Humanitara Debora and Fundatia Humanitas Pro Deo Vic and Pat Blunden, Jane Ballard and Mary Blow each became involved with fund raising for the project The Debora Project as we called it then, which was to renovate the house Marius Mihuta had and making it fit to be a children's home.

The four of us, Vic and Pat, Jane and Mary decided in 1998 to become a Registered Charity with the Charity Commission. This was successfully achieved in February 2000 and we were called Street Children Aid Pro Deo.

Since then we have added to the NGOs we support and now support five groups as listed on the home page. Their work is detailed in the Projects site.

The most important thing we need with which to help these Non-Governmental Organisations in Romania and Republic of Moldova is money. They need it to run their projects which are all involving the rescue and rehabilitation of families. However we continue to send lorries of aid because our Romanian friends ask us to do so. They say that some of the poor families they support are only surviving because of what we send.

We collect all types of clothing, bedding, household goods, tools, dried foods but not breakfast cereals. Ground coffee but not English tea. We take furniture but are very specific about what we take and don't take, and at times cannot accept it owing to lack of space.

WE CANNOT SEND TOYS THROUGH CUSTOMS - SORRY.

We store all these goods in a Council Warehouse in Basingstoke. We can arrange delivery of goods at this warehouse, or at one or more of our homes by arrangement. We can also collect from the donor if it is not possible for them to deliver.

For those that feel able to donate, please send cheques made payable to “Street Children Aid Pro Deo” to;
